1930年代頃のジャパンヴィンテージストローハットになります。
戦前の大変貴重な麦わら帽子。
元は西洋発祥のヘッドウェアで、水兵や船の漕ぎ手用の帽子が発祥とされるアイテムです。
水しぶきなどにより柔らかくなる事を防いだり、耐久性を上げるために麦藁を平らに潰しプレス整形する事により、強度が増し、軽さが出る事もこの帽子の一つの特徴でもあります。
また、叩くと「カンカン」と音がする事から、日本では「カンカン帽」という俗称も定着していますね。
年代が古いという事もありますが、日本の麦わら帽子は基本的に一夏で使い捨てる事が殆どだったようですので、数が本当に見つかりません。
また、サイズとしてもこの年代の帽子にしては大きめで、現代にマッチするレアな個体だと思います。
編みも現行の物とは異なる四菱編みで、これも戦前のアイテムならではのディテールです。
また、内側のスベリ(汗止め)が無くなっていますが、サイズ調整も可能ですし、汗をかきやすい時期に被る物なので、タオルやバンダナなどを使って、日頃から交換していくのも良いと思います。
今、作るとなるとかなりのハイプライスになりますし、クオリティと希少性が伴ったオリジナルを使うのも良いですね。
