Japan vintage indigo stripe cape will be around the end of Meiji-early Showa.
Although there are various theories, it is doucyukappa, which has an origin from items worn by Portuguese and Spanish who arrived in Japan around the 16th century.
When the middle of the Edo period began, cotton-based kappa began to be made, and it was an item that was mainly worn as an outer in the words of preventing rain and wind.
There are years of age, but because there are very few existing, old things are also very few items to see.
The fabric is striped with indigo on both sides, making the fabric itself worth seeing.
In addition, it looks like Cape, Poncho, and cloak when I wear it, and I think that it can be used today as a fashion item.
Personally, I would like you to capture it as a fashion item, not an unfashionable way of thinking, such as collecting antiques, cosplaying, or costume reproduction.

・年代:明治末期～昭和初期頃だと思われます。
・素材:コットン(襟のベルベットの素材は分かりかねます。)
明治末期～昭和初期頃のジャパンヴィンテージ藍染縞模様道中合羽になります。
諸説ございますが、16世紀前後の日本へ来航したポルトガル人やスペイン人が着ていたアイテムに起源を持つ、道中合羽(どうちゅうかっぱ)です。
江戸時代中期頃に入ると木綿を使用した合羽が作られ始め、主に雨や風などを防ぐ今の言葉で言うアウターとして着用されていたアイテムです。
股旅や歌川広重の東海道五十三次にもありますが、トラベルウェアとして着用されていたことから、この道中がついたようです。
木枯し紋次郎での妻折笠に道中合羽のスタイルと言うとイメージの中でも、お分りいただける方も多いのではないでしょうか。
年月の経過もございますが、現存している数が非常に少ないので、古い物は見る事も非常に少ないアイテムでもあります。
生地は両面ともに藍染の縞模様で、生地自体に見応えがあります。
また、着てみるとケープやポンチョ、マントのような佇まいで、ファッションアイテムとしても現代に通用すると思います。
個人的には骨董収集、コスプレ、衣装再現などアンファッショナブルな考え方ではなく、ファッションアイテムとして捉えていただきたいです。
