1930～40年代頃のジャパンヴィンテージ藍染木綿縞模様もんぺになります。

ゆとりのあるヒップ周りと裾に向かうに従って細くなっていくシルエットが特徴的な日本固有の作業着パンツ、「もんぺ」です。

この「もんぺ」の語源は、アイヌ語でボトムスを意味する「オムンペ」や、「股引(ももひき)」から来たとも言われ、諸説ございます。

また、第二次世界大戦中には、女性の着用が義務付けられていた事もありました。

その事実は、それだけ当時、機能的で完成されたアイテムだということを物語っていますね。

また、近年では「和」の雰囲気を持つアイテムとして再評価されているのをご存知の方もいらっしゃると思います。

両サイドにスリットが入り、前後で別れる一般的なタイプで、腰紐で縛り、閉じて履く仕様です。

現在、販売されている物はウエストがゴムになっている物が殆どなので、こちらのような古い年代の紐タイプは既に貴重です。

この紐留め、一見煩わしく感じるかもしれませんが、機能や見た目だけに拘る現行のラインアップと異なり、新鮮で面白みがあります。

内側にポケットが一つ付き、膝周辺には補強用の布が縫い付けられています。
