1940～50年代頃のジャパンヴィンテージもんぺパンツになります。
ボリュームのあるヒップ周りに絞られていく裾のシルエットが特徴的な日本固有の作業着パンツ、もんぺ。
着物等の裾を中に入れて着用するため、前後でセパレートされた独特の仕様で、腰紐で縛り、閉じて履くシステムです。
サルエルパンツのようなユニークなシルエットと履き心地の良さから、一部で再評価されており、海外ではMonpe Pantsとして、認知されております。
もんぺの語源は、アイヌ語でズボンを意味する「オムンペ」や、「股引(ももひき)」から来たとされておりますが、響きも可愛らしいですね。
また、第二次世界大戦中、女性の着用が義務付けられていた事もありました。
世の中に多くの種類が存在するパンツですが、ここまでデザインとしてユニークな物はなかなかないと思います。
リラックスパンツを思わせる履き心地の良さは言うまでもなく魅力の一つですが、様々なスタイルと相性が良いのも嬉しいポイントです。

It is a unique system that separates the front and back of the kimono, so that it can be worn with the hem of the kimono inside.
It has been re-evaluated in part because of its unique silhouette and comfortableness like Saruel pants, and is recognized overseas as Monpe Pants.
The origin of monpe is said to have come from "Omunpe" which means pants in the Ainu language, and "momohiki", but the sound is also cute.
